Why I started?

Tsakane Ndubane and Sizwe Lawrence Ndlovu

I’ve always loved sports, I’ve actively participated in action netball, netball, hockey, athletics and cricket scoring. I’ve managed, coached, umpired at high school and provincial levels! While working in corporate South Africa in marketing looking after the sports portfolio: cricket, rugby and soccer I got a close glimpse of the professional side of sports. I noticed how athletes had sporting agents but only a few were building brands and leaving a legacy, I also noticed how many died poor. After leaving corporate and relocating to yet another city in 2013 I met 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Sizwe Lawrence Ndlovu! It felt like we’d known each other for ages, after a successful dinner we shook hands and I started working on Brand Sizwe, over the years we’ve made great progress, from radio, tv and print interviews, to building brand advocacy on social media, to a dream come true documentary with the Olympic Channel, talks at sporting events, fundraisers, corprate events, to his message of hope being included in Karien Basson’s book “A message of hope”, we’ve failed, we’ve tried and mostly we’ve won and learned! And so JamᾹior (Pty) Ltd was born, we’ve worked with athletes, mentored youth, startups and we looking forward to collaborating with you on your next project!

God is alive in South African sport

The past two weekends I’ve enjoyed Super Rugby the post match interviews have been the best! Don’t get me wrong the rugby was amazing but my my the post match interviews had heaven singing!

On the 15th July the Emirates Lions played the Cell C Sharks in Durban, the visitors the Lions won the match securing a home quarter final playing the same team on the 22 July in Johannesburg. During the post match interviews both the Man of the match Kwagga Smith and the Lions captain Jaco Kriel thank God for their ability to play, I was amazed.

A week later watching the DHL Stomers vs Chiefs play in their quarter final at Newlands in Cape Town the loosing captain Siyamthanda ‘Siya’ Kolisi too thanked God for a great day the opportunity to play, again I was amazed.

Heaven was rejoicing that I can guarantee! Millions of people watch rugby and its amazing to see the gospel being spread to the world! These moments reminded me of a song by Elvis Blue titled Die Hemel it’s an amazing, the lyrics translated from Afrikaans to English:
Lig jou hande op (lift your hands up high), Lig jou hande op (lift your hands up high), al die deure was toe maar die hemel was oop (all the doors were closed but heavens were open)

Learning from a toddler

My niece is 10 months old and learning to walk , its intresting to watch I tell you!
I believe that if you condition your mind right you can learn something from everyone you meet, old or young.

As I watch my niece get strong and stronger, I’m reminded by the lesson on perseverance and a child learning to walk is a perfect example. When a child learns to walk how many times do they fall (to be honest, they not counting nor do they care), the fall, they might cry if they hurt themselves or get a fright, but do they throw in the towel and say “well that’s it I’m done trying!” Of course not, they don’t know about quitting, they’re not quitters and they unlike people older them they don’t give up!

Where am I going with this? We need to have childlike faith see Matt 18:2-4 , cause with child like faith you will become stronger and stronger with every challenge and obstacle you meet.
Say “I will fall and get up, I will not give up!”

You my dear friend need to decide just how badly you want that relationship, that job, promotion, raise, that distinction, degree, certificate, that body, that healthy lifestyle you dream of, the successful business, the grand house, the big difference you want to make in you family, home, school, country, you name it its possible!

The secret: childlike faith, how easy? Not easy when you have experience of how tough life can be. Is it achievable, yes it is! Condition your mind daily, take baby steps and you will make!

As my nephew takes my nieces hand for walking lessons and says: “come one you can do it,” I realise the power of support and how far it can push you.

Be good to yourself and be better to those around you. Be someone’s cheerleader!

My first 10km race

First #10k for the year, first in 6 years, time better then I expected! My thoughts during the race: finish what you start, love yourself, finish strong! By the end of the race it started to pour down with rain, as some runners choose not finish, that wasn’t me… There I was 2kms to the finish, wet, reevaluating everything, but one thing was evident I will finish what I started, and I’ll finish strong.

A proud me ran past the finish line at a time of 1h30mins, collected my medal and ran to my car.

Funny questions I got post the race:
What number did you come? Really its a race, not a sprint.

No matter how slow you’re running, keep running.

Happy training

The Road to Two Oceans Marathon

Last year I committed myself to run the 21k Two Oceans Marathon and didn’t get in… Then I decided I’ll enter the 12k trail run part of the Two Oceans, a promise is a promise, right?

To the road to Two Oceans has been interesting, today I feel stronger and better than last week, actually I’m even faster over the same distance. God gifted me with a running partner and great one who as run the Two Oceans, how lucky, so thankful!

Keep the promises you make to yourself, work towards them and you will succeed!

Know yourself

5_things_your_should_know_about_self_esteemSelf-Esteem begins and ends with you. The more you know about yourself, the less moved you’ll be by the opinions of others. – B. Dilley

We spend a lot of time getting to know things, but how well do we know ourselves? Honestly now…

Well I can safely say pretty well, no jokes! I not need a plus one, two or three to get things done, I’ll happily go to the gym, church, shopping, an event, breakfast, lunch, dinner even the movies by myself…

If you’ve never braved an event, the gym, church, you name it… try it let me know how it went!

Its starts and ends with you!

More than a conqueror!

Take the prefix away…

In life you will go through turmoil and how you think will enable you to come out of it stronger on the other side, cause you are more than a conqueror!

It’s ok

  • To be on the outside of the inside joke
  • The underdog
  • The unappreciated
  • At bottom of the food chain
  • NB: God has the power to turn a mess into a message, hold onto his word.

  • Why you got started
  • What you wanted to achieve
  • Never lose your sense of wonder
  • Never let someone’s negative opinion of who they think you are, manifest in your life
  • May you never lose your vision, even if you go blind – We live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
  • For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he Proverbs 23:7

Repeat this as often as necessary:

  • You are fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:14
  • He will have compassion upon you Micah 7:19
  • The LORD will make you the head, not the tail Deuteronomy 28:13
  • Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice Philippians 4:4
  • Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life Psalm 23:6
  • The joy of the LORD is my strength Nehemiah 8:10

Never be brainwashed by the world, rather be brainwashed by the word so “do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,” Romans 12:2

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.” ― Steve Jobs

Meditate on the word

Have faith, God has got this!

Celebrate Valentine’s Day the Non-Cheesy Ways

Celebrate Valentine’s Day the Non-Cheesy Ways, here’s Tsakane Ndubane‘s tips to help you think outside the heart-shaped box:

download (1)1. Organize Galentine’s Day: Galentine’s Day gives women a chance to celebrate all the lovely ladies in their lives. It transforms a day of appreciation for romantic love into one for friendship.
2. Volunteer: Use Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to give back. Pick out a charity with your significant other and plan to spend the day together helping out in whatever way you can. Or simply treat a homeless person with a home cooked meal.

3. Have an old handbag or gym bag, then prepare a dignity bag for someone in need, you could fill it with: Non-perishable food, essential personal hygiene products, a facecloth, an old towel, sanitary towels, clean drinking water.
4. Nothing: Part of the reason that Valentine’s Day often doesn’t live up to the hype is that people have such high expectations. So why not stay in cook or braai with your loved ones and enjoy the bonding time and rather donate the money you would have spent.

So love #LoveYourself and love differently!
